Antonio Pele is Associate Professor at the Law School of PUC-Rio University. He has been granted with the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowship (2021), one of the most prestigious and generous Fellowships of the European Union. With his research project ‘Making Humans: Human Dignity in 19th century-France,’ Antonio Pele will explore how the notion of human dignity, namely the value of the human being, was shaped around issues related to social justice, women’s rights and anti-racism struggles. ‘Making Humans’ will be developed under the main supervision of Bernard E. Harcourt, at the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales (EHESS) and the Institut de Recherches Interdisciplinaires sur les Enjeux Sociaux (IRIS) in Paris, in closed partnership with the Columbia Center for Contemporary Critical Thought.
