Bethania Assy is the Philosophy of Law Professor at Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro, and at State University of Rio de Janeiro. Philosophy PhD at New School for Social Research NY, USA. Bethania is: Co-coordinator of UNESCO Chair on Violence, Government and Governance at Puc-Rio. Honorary Fellow at Birkbeck Law School -London University (2012-2013). Research fellow at: Frankfurt University (2003); Max Planck Institute of the History of Science -Berlin (2005); Oldenburg University-Hannah Arendt Archive (2006, 2007); Free University of Berlin (2009); Visiting professor at: University of Nanterre, Paris X (2013, 2015, 2018); Humboldt University (2022). Published Ethics, Responsibility and Judgment in Hannah Arendt, (in English, Portuguese, and Italian); published with José Ricardo Cunha: Theory of Law and the subject of social injustice (Portuguese); edited Human Rights: Justice, Truth and Memory (Portuguese) and is currently working on the next book, co-authored with Rafael Rolo and Allan Hillane: The Subject of Injustice: political action, law and empowerment (English, Routledge Publishing). Has widely published on contemporary political philosophy; political subjectivity and resistance, human rights; ethics, critical legal theory and decolonial perspectivism.
